BETA Club Information

  • What is Beta Club?

Beta Club is an organization that promotes academic achievement, outstanding character, leadership, and service. The National Beta Club has existed for more than 80 years. Including a “Beta Club Member” on your future college applications means that you are dedicated to learning and service within your high school and surrounding community and are recognized by the National Beta Club.

Who is eligible to join the WBHS Beta Club?

Seniors who have a GPA of 3.75 or higher are offered invitations to join.  Membership requires a $ fee to cover the cost of Beta Club pins, membership certificates, and graduation cords.  Members are also required to complete 10 hours of service work in the community or at William Byrd High School.

How long does each member have to complete the service hours?

The time frame for completing the volunteer work is from the summer after junior year through April of senior year.  Volunteer documentation forms will be posted on the Beta Blackboard page and are available for pickup in the library.

Will there be an induction ceremony like there has been in the past?

The 2023 induction ceremony will be held on October 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

Will there be other activities involved with Beta Club membership?

In the fall, members will participate in a wrapping paper fundraiser.  Money raised will help pay for the honors banquet held in the spring for seniors.

How do I pay the $ membership fee?

The fee may be paid online through MySchoolBucks or by bringing a check (or cash) to the library or front office.  Checks should be made out to “WBHS,” and “Beta Club” should be written on the memo line.

You must create a MySchoolBucks account if you do not have one already.

Click on "Store" and "Browse All Items".

Click "Next" on the bottom right of your screen until you get to the last page and look for "WBHS BETA CLUB DUES".
