    Get ready to explore, discover, and engage with the world around you as we dive into life science! We will start small with cells and genetics, then GO BIG with ecosystems, biomes, and how it all changes over time. Labs, field work, and hands-on projects will bring this science to life.

    Jessica Kingery: (jkingery@rcs.k12.va.us)  Mrs. Kingery is new to William Byrd Middle School and very excited to be here. Prior to joining the fabulous science team here at WBMS, Mrs. Kingery taught sixth grade science at Northside Middle School and Addison Middle School. She is a proud Hokie and after earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech she went on to Hollins University to earn a Masters of Teaching. Mrs. Kingery loves spending time, outside especially, with her family including her husband, three daughters, and her fur babies.

    Erin O'Donnell (eodonnell@rcs.k12.va.us) loves science because it strives to make sense of this amazing place we call home. This is her first year at William Byrd Middle, and she is looking forward to working with all of you as we DO science. She attended undergrad at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry and received her Master's in Education from Mary Baldwin College. In her spare time, Erin grows way too many vegetables, hikes with her dogs, and enjoys all adventure activities. Erin is the Co-Sponsor for the Bee Club at WBMS.

    Physical Science ties everything you have learned in middle school science together in one class. We will discuss matter, energy, force and motion, light, electricity, sound, and so much more! We will do many Labs, projects, and activities all while learning all about chemistry and physics.

    Kayla Dawson ( Kdawson@rcs.k12.va.us), Department Chair, is in her second year of teaching. She has taught both 7th Grade Life Science and also 8th grade Physical Science. She attended Radford University for both her Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry and Biology and her Master's of Science in Education. Kayla Enjoys hanging out with her pups, Albert and Odin, and her husband Dylan, and hiking. Kayla is the Co-Sponsor of CIA club for the 8th grade at WBMS and also CO-Sponsor for the Bee-Club at WBMS.

    Becky Reed ( rreed@rcs.k12.va.us), has 29 Years of teaching experience. She is Certified in Agriculture Education and Special Education. She has co-taught Math, Science, English, and History. Which means she has pretty much done it all! She is Highly Qualified in Math K-12; Science K-8; English K-8 and History K-8. She attended VPI & SU, Anderson School of Theology, Radford U., Old Dominion, University of NH, George Mason, Virginia Western CC, and University of Virginia. Some of her hobbies include camping, reading and traveling.  She has traveled to 46 of the 50 states.  Becky is the Ham Radio Sponsor.
