RCPSOnline is designed to let students learn safely from home, while still allowing them to maintain their connection to their school. This means that families can receive all routine communications from their child's base school and participate as members of the PTA. In addition, students will be eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities with their base school once these activities resume.

Students will receive synchronous contact with their teacher five days a week. This will help keep students connected to their class and their teacher. It will help maintain routine and consistency for the students. It will provide opportunities for celebrations, holiday recognitions, and other fun activities that occur in the normal course of a school year.

The schedule is designed to give students flexibility and choice. They may choose the order of lessons and the pace at which they complete these lessons.

On days with teacher-led learning sessions, the teacher will communicate the exact time and details of the session. Students will be encouraged to be present online for these very important opportunities.

Additional instructional time will be provided as needed for students receiving specialized supports, such as those in special education, English learners, gifted education, and students requiring targeted intervention.
