Computer Information Technology Students Provide Donation to Advancement Foundation
October 20, 2020
Thanks to the work of his Computer Information Technology students, Mr. French was able to donate eight Dell touch screen laptops to the Advancement Foundation. We would like to thank the VA STAR Program for making this donation possible. The Advancement Foundation leads dynamic community development by creating opportunities that provide action focused opportunities for citizens. Their programs tap into citizen’s best motivation and natural passions either as mentors wishing to give back, as entrepreneurs dreaming of becoming a part of the economic engine, and as families making the purchase of their home a reality.
The Virginia STAR (Student Training and Refurbishment) program teaches students to refurbish surplus computer hardware for the purposes of donating them to families and organizations. Through participation in the program, students work towards earning industry-standard certifications which can pave the way for both higher education and well-paying jobs.
"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Burton Center for Arts and Technology as well as to the VA STAR Program for your technology gift of laptop computers," said Annette Patterson, president of the Advancement Foundation.
