Summer Feeding Program is back!
For many kids, summer vacation is a much deserved reward for a year of hard work in the classroom. For some, however, the summer months can be difficult. When school is out, these kids no longer have access to school meals and their families’ budgets are often stretched to the breaking point. In fact, studies show that kids are at a higher risk for both obesity and hunger during the summer months. Many families also face the stress of providing safe, supervised and affordable places for kids and teens to socialize, play and continue to learn.
Roanoke County Public Schools is offering four summer feeding sites from June 11 -July 19, 2018:
Burlington Elementary School (program begins June 13)
Herman L. Horn Elementary School
Oak Grove Elementary School
These three sites will be open Monday - Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program will not be available at these schools on July 4 & 5.
William Byrd High School (program runs June 18-July 18, closed July 4-6)
WBHS will be open Monday - Friday from 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
