School board announces additional administrative appointments

April Young and Breann DooleyThe Roanoke County School Board has named April Young as the new principal at Glen Cove Elementary School.  Young joins Roanoke County Public Schools after serving as the principal at Fairview Elementary in Roanoke City for 17 years.  A graduate of Northside High School, Young holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Radford University.

The school board also selected Breann Dooley as the new assistant principal for Back Creek and Clearbrook elementary schools.  Dooley joins Roanoke County Public Schools after serving as an assistant principal at Morningside and Wasena elementary schools in Roanoke City.  She also has seven years of teaching experience in Roanoke City and Mercer Co, WV.  Dooley holds a bachelor’s degree from Concord University and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Averett University.

“I am pleased that April and Breann are joining our leadership team,” said Dr. Ken Nicely, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools.  “Both will bring a wealth of experience to their respective schools and I’m confident they will continue the tradition of academic excellence at Glen Cove, Back Creek and Clearbrook,” Dr. Nicely said.
