School board approves refund of laptop insurance payments
The Roanoke County School Board has approved the refund of annual laptop insurance. The refunds will be $50 per laptop insurance paid or $25 for reduced laptop insurance paid. Due to the large volume of refunds to be processed, the RCPS finance department will assist the schools to issue refunds.
“There are over 10,000 refunds to process, which will take considerable time,” said Susan Peterson, director of finance. “We plan to work through each of our 26 schools one at a time and will send notices to parents as soon as refunds for each school are processed,” Peterson said.
Payments received via credit card will be refunded to the credit card. Payments received via cash or check will be refunded with a check. The school system will send a message to parents when refunds for their school have been processed so parents can be on the lookout for their refund. In addition, the school system has created a refund status page on the RCPS finance department website for parents to keep track of the status of refunds.
