We are preparing to reopen our athletic activities for teams on Monday, November 2nd. The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be complying with the RCPS Return-to-Play plan in accordance with a variety of public health experts. The Roanoke County Public Schools Phase Three Guidance for Return-to-Play plan is available on the Cave Spring Middle School website; https://www.rcps.us/domain/243.
As you can see from a review of that document, we will be adapting our normal routines and adding many new safety procedures as we look to provide students with an opportunity to work-out with their coach rather than our traditional open-gym experiences. For those reasons, we are asking parents to determine what sports their student is interested in so that we can begin the planning, scheduling, and communication process for each team as our face-to-face seasonal interest meetings will not be possible. Please use the link below, or on our CSMS website under Athletics, to submit your contact information and interest in being involved in a team’s activities.
Once we can determine student interest in these work-out activities, coaches will begin reaching out regarding the team activities and scheduling students in small groups or pods, but I will be ensuring availability for our Winter Season sports as they would be our first to play this year.
Lastly, we will still require a VHSL physical on file, https://www.vhsl.org/vhsl-physical-form/, at the school dated no earlier than May 1st of 2020. I will continue to send email correspondence with further details and update the school webpage with athletic information. CSMS Staff appreciates everyone’s hard-work and patience as we all adapt to these changes.
