CSMS Fall Sporting Event Protocols

Cave Spring Middle School Parents & Guardians,

Due to Executive Order 72, our Fall Sporting events will have spectator limitations as we want to host safe sporting events in the coming weeks.  I’ve broken down those limitations and expectations for Indoor (Volleyball) and Outdoor (Football/Cheerleading) events.

Norms for Indoor Sporting Events:

  • 25 spectators allowed.
  • Spectators include only one ticket per home student-athlete.
  • Participants include student-athletes, coaches, required personnel (officials and professional personnel).
  • Cheer, home and away, will not be involved with any volleyball matches.
  • Temperature checks must be taken and health screening conducted for each spectator before purchasing tickets.
  • Ticket taker will maintain a roster of home student athletes to ensure no more than allowable number of spectators per student-athlete are in attendance.
  • Spectators must remain at least 6 feet apart and wear a facial covering over the mouth and nose at all times.
  • Spectators will enter through Door #15 where screening, temperature checks, and tickets can be purchased before entering the gym.
  • No concessions will be offered at the event

Norms for Outdoor Sporting Events:

  • 250 spectators are allowed.
  • Spectators include home and away fans as well as home and away cheerleaders.
  • Participants include student-athletes, coaches, required personnel (officials and professional personnel).
  • Temperature checks must be taken and health screening conducted for each spectator before purchasing tickets.
  • Counting clickers will be used as tickets are purchased to be sure we do not go over the number of allowed spectators.
  • Spectators must remain at least 6 feet apart and wear a facial covering over the mouth and nose at all times.
  • Spectators will ONLY enter through the Bogle Stadium Gate near the CSMS Main Office where screening, temperature checks, and tickets can be purchased before entering the stadium.
  • No concessions will be offered at the event

Mitigation Strategies During Play:

  • Student-athletes WILL NOT be required to wear face coverings during active play.
  • Student-athletes WILL wear facial coverings during pre-game activities, warm-up, time-outs, team huddles, or meetings.
  • One-piece plastic face shields covering the entire face will not be allowed during participation due to the risk of unintended injury to the person wearing the shield or others.

Mitigation Strategies On The Sidelines:

  • Face coverings are required at all times, even on sidelines and when not actively involved in the competitions.
  • Face covering will be required of all students and coaches while in transit to and from the workout location, while on a school bus, and while meeting in a group receiving direction.

We are excited to have our parents back on campus for events and greatly appreciate your support and flexibility as we adapt to these safety protocols.  You can find our Fall Sports Schedules on the School Webpage > Athletics > Athletic Calendar and Team Schedule Link.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your students coach for team specific questions.

Have a great weekend,
