Green named new principal at Northside High School
The Roanoke County School Board has selected Jill Green as the new principal at Northside High School, effective July 1. Green will be returning to Roanoke County Public Schools after having previously served at Glenvar Middle School and Northside Middle School. Green replaces Jason Breeding, who is leaving RCPS to pursue other interests.
Green has a long career in K-12 education in the greater Roanoke Valley. She began as a teacher at Andrew Lewis Middle School in 1991. In 1998, she joined Roanoke County Public Schools as an assistant principal at Northside Middle School. In 2001, she became the principal at Glenvar Middle School. Green left Roanoke County Public Schools in 2005 to become an instructional supervisor in Botetourt County. A year later, she was named director of human resources for Botetourt County Public Schools and has remained in that position until this new announcement.
“I’m thrilled that Jill is returning to Roanoke County,” said Dr. Ken Nicely, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools. “She was an excellent administrator at Northside and Glenvar middle schools and I’m pleased that she will bring her wealth of leadership and expertise to Northside High School,” Dr. Nicely said.
Green holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Both degrees are from Radford University.
