Welding

The series of Welding Classes are held during a single school year. Students in the Welding I class progress to the Welding II and Welding III class. If your business has personnel that needs to have instruction in welding, we can develop a class to suit your needs. SMAW, GMAW, Oxyfuel Brazing, Tig Welding, Plasma Arc Cutting, and Carbon Arc Cutting are just a few of the methods that Mr. Overfelt can provide instruction on. The class would be held at the Burton Center for Arts & Technology campus.

WELDING I (SMAW)

The SMAW Class is open to anyone and covers what is commonly referred to as “stick welding”. The SMAW Class will cover safety in SMAW welding, SMAW welding with 6013 and 7018 electrodes, machine set-up and general maintenance of the machine. Students will learn to weld flat plate and T-joints in the flat and vertical positions using 1/4” to 3/4” materials. Please note - Wire Feed welding will NOT be covered in the SMAW class. A student cannot miss more than 1 class to continue in series.
The SMAW class is 20 hours and the tuition is $350.
The SMAW class is **required** before taking the GMAW/FCAW class**
Bring safety glasses
Must be at least 18 years old
MAXIMUM 10 students

Basic math and reading are required.

Welding I: 9/4, 9/9, 9/16, 9/18, and 9/23 for 2019

WELDING II (GMAW/FCAW)

The GMAW/FCAW class, commonly referred to as MIG welding, is 20 hours and the cost is $400. This class is open to anyone having taken the SMAW class with no more than one absence.
Completion of the SMAW class is ** required** before taking the GMAW/FCAW class
Bring safety classes
Must be at least 18 years old
MAXIMUM 10 students

Dates and Class times:
Welding II: 9/30, 10/2, 10/7, 10/9, and 10/14 for 2019

All classes are 6PM – 10PM

WELDING III (FCAW 1 and 3 g, GMAW Spray Transfer and short circuit)

 

The Qualification class is 84 hours and the cost is $1,900.00. This class covers FCAW 1 and 3 g, GMAW Spray Transfer and short circuit. In this class, students will do test plates that are sent off and graded as “Pass” or “Fail”. The test is a D1.1 structural bridge code test through the American Welding Society. This class is open to those who have taken both the SMAW and GMAW/FCAW classes and had no more than one absence in each class.

 

Bring safety glasses. Must be at least 18 years old.
